Mitchel Olson, a trial lawyer who specializes in medical malpractice and pharmaceutical litigation, has joined Casey, Gerry, Reed & Schenk in an of counsel capacity.

“His medical expertise will prove especially important to our growing pharmaceutical practice, which includes cases involving the recalled drugs Baycol, Fen Phen, Propulsid and Rezulin,” Frederick Schenk, a senior partner with the plaintiff’s law firm, said in a press release.

In 1991, Olson prevailed in the largest medical malpractice case in San Diego history, winning an award of $31,112,972 in Battle v. Rand.

Olson earned a bachelor’s degree in government from Dartmouth College, his law degree from Stanford University School of Law and a medical degree from the University of California at San Diego.
