David Casey Jr., partner, Casey, Gerry, Reed & Schenk, San Diego Immediate past president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, he helped the group create Trial Lawyers Care, which represented families of Sept. 11 victims before the national compensation fund – 1,100 lawyers, 1,700 families, $710 million and the equivalent of 100 years of free legal service. Casey's fight to compensate WWII American POW's enslaved in Japan suffered a loss when the state Supreme Court found the claims were barred.
