Native La Jollan David Casey Jr., a past president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and senior partner with Casey Gerry Reed & Schenk, will be honored with the Daniel Broderick III award at the 20th Annual Red Boudreau Trial Lawyers Dinner on Oct. 9 benefiting St. Vincent de Paul Village.

The award, named after Dan Broderick, a highly regarded local attorney who met an untimely death in 1989, is presented each year to an accomplished trial lawyer who adheres to the highest standards of civility, integrity and professionalism.

The award is selected by a vote from representatives of each of the event’s co-sponsors: the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the San Diego Defense Lawyers and the Association of Business Trial Lawyers of San Diego.

A third-generation attorney, Casey has spent nearly 30 years practicing law. Specializing in serious personal injury and wrongful death cases, he has long been recognized as a top lawyer in his field, and has obtained successful verdicts and settlements for dozens of high profile cases. He played a major role in the fight against the tobacco industry, representing the then-Lt. Gov. Gray Davis in tobacco litigation on behalf of the people of California.
